WORK

Education Governance & Accountability

This theme is about how the education system is run, and who it answers to. It covers the things that turn a policy into a real school place: honest data, clear budgets, working schools, teachers who show up and are supported, and someone held responsible when things go wrong. It also covers the ways ordinary people can hold the system to account. For PCE, this is often the missing piece: Pakistan usually has the laws and the plans, but not the systems or the will to deliver them.

It matters because even a good policy fails if it is not carried out well, and Pakistan's system loses trust at every level: schools that exist only on paper, absent teachers, missing data, and money that disappears before it reaches a child. At the same time, communities are often shut out of decisions about their own children's schooling. Our work is about closing the gap between what is promised and what is delivered, and giving communities the facts and the standing to demand better
