WORK

Education Quality, Learning & Skills

This theme is about what happens after a child is in school, and whether they actually learn. It covers the basics (can a child read and do simple maths), the depth (are children thinking, or just memorising), and the relevance (are young people gaining the skills they will really need). For PCE, getting a child into school means little if they do not learn once they are there.

It matters because Pakistan has a learning crisis, not just an out-of-school crisis. Most children still cannot read and understand a simple story by the age of 10. Many leave school without the thinking, digital, and practical skills that jobs and daily life demand, in a country where most people are under 30. Fixing this means moving away from rote learning and exams toward real understanding, better-trained teachers, and lessons built around skills. That is what our work on quality, learning, and skills is for.
