Right to Education (Article 25-A)
Education is a right, not a privilege. In 2010, Pakistan made this the law. The 18th Amendment added Article 25-A to the Constitution, which says the state must provide free and compulsory education to every child aged 5 to 16.
But a law only matters if it is followed, and this one is not. Millions of children in Pakistan are still out of school, and it is almost always the same children who miss out: the poor, children in rural areas, girls, children with disabilities, and minorities. For PCE, the right to education is where everything begins. It is the standard we hold every budget, policy, and school against, and it is the reason we exist.
